A bit about us:
Whilst, being Guernsey’s premier Plant and Tool hire company, we also offer maintenance and repair services to many of the islands construction companies. Due to our continued expansion, we are actively seeking Workshop Foreman to join the team.
The role:
We have the Islands largest fleet of Plant that requires maintenance and repairs.
As part of a fast-paced, busy depot, the Workshop Foreman is responsible for the efficient running of the workshop including maximising the availability of plant for hire, allocating/monitoring the workload of the depot fitters and ensuring that all equipment is maintained and kept in working order at all times. As a Workshop Foreman, you will be responsible for supporting and developing your team to maximise performance whilst ensuring the health and safety of all employees within the depot workshop. You will also be responsible for liaising with our customers who require maintenance and repairs on their own fleet and keeping up our high standards of customer care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Depot Manager in allocating the work to the workshop fitters.
- Ensuring the presentation, testing and maintenance of equipment, plant and infrastructure is sustained, through regular quality spot-checks/ inspections.
- Perform spot-checks on the Plant to ensure that all operators do the basic daily maintenance and report issues on their daily check.
- Ordering a sufficient level of stock for the equipment to be maintained and being accountable for the stores.
- Managing bi-annual stock takes, ensuring they are completed efficiently.
- Develop and support the existing team whilst ensuring new talent is progressing through the business.
- Supporting the Workshop Fitters with servicing as and when required.
- Supporting the Depot Manager with special projects.
- Develop and encourage a culture of continuous improvement across the depot with clear objectives outlined and deliverable dates for the team.
- Ensure all H&S and quality aspects are being adhered to.
- Conducting Toolbox Talks as appropriate.
- Continue to drive a positive culture within the organisation and deliver succession plans to create a high-performing team.
- Positively engage and contribute with all employees and the management team.
- Any other tasks as required by the Depot Manager.
What we’re looking for from the successful candidate:
- Proven experience working as in a mechanic/fitter role with a relevant mechanical qualification or time served.
- Experience with diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to develop and manage teams within a fast-paced workshop environment.
- Industry recognised mechanical plant qualification is essential.
- Leads by example.
- Good IT skills and working knowledge of all Microsoft packages.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to work well under pressure and manage a busy workload.
Hours:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive with a lunch break of one hour and two 15-minute breaks,
One Saturday in three 8:00 am to 12:00 PM
Overtime is paid at an enhanced hourly rate.
